An Institute intent on the evolutions of Public Management
Management professions in the public sector are called, today more than ever, to significant renewal.
- Continuous demographic growth and population mobility bring into light the importance of public interest. Population density and migrations are in the focus of the attention and integrative action of local, national, and supranational governments.
- Worldwide improvements in citizens' standards of leaving and education confront public services to higher expectations and command continuous improvements and reforms of State and local governance.
- More than ever, collective actions are necessary for the preservation of environmental health and quality, calling for voluntaristic national and international programs, as well as changes of people's familiar routines.
Future public managers must therefore recognize and promote the values of public interest and action, ranging from social cohesiveness to education and ecology, and using contantly renewed public management tools, methods, and skills. Our Institute's interest for the renovation of public management practice equally responds to the European Union's call for knowledge economy and lifelong learning.
2004-2005 - The Institute becomes a wholly independent faculty, the
Institut of Public Management and Local Governance within Paul Cézanne University Aix-Marseille
